Our Partner: Hope for Life

The Hovde Foundation has partnered with Hope For Life Ministry, a Rwanda-based NGO led by two recent college grads from Seattle, Megan Swanson and Hilliary Anderson. During an internship in Rwanda in 2009, they befriended several boys living on the street. Months later, they returned to rent a house and offer them a place to live. Along with a few staff, they now care for 25 boys who are happy, healthy, and doing well in school! In the Spring of 2011 the boys moved into their newly built Swanson Hovde House.

The Swanson Hovde House of Kigali, Rwanda

This Hovde House is called the Swanson Hovde House in honor of Hope For Life co-founder and Executive Director, Megan Swanson, and Jason Swanson (no relation), a generous colleague of Eric Hovde who has made a sizable grant to the project. Hope for Life Ministry focuses on holistic and long-term care that will allow for emotional, relational and spiritual healing to take place in each child. The boys in the program have their primary needs met, receive loving support, spiritual mentorship, and will be equipped to leave street life through the opportunity to attend school and vocational training.

This Hovde House opened in spring 2011 and currently cares for 25 boys, all formerly living on the streets of Kigali.
